Dental-Replacement

Choosing between Removable & Fixed prosthesis or Dental Implant ?
Replacement of missing teeth should be done for improving quality of our life & health of the patient.
Various methods of replacements are there.
1. Removable prosthesis which is to be outdated. Most of the advanced Dental practitioner are not practising Removable prosthesis.
2. Fixed prosthesis
3. Dental Implant.

Fixed prosthesis
Fixed prosthesis is used to replace only partially missing tooth, which is a permanant solution but not a good choice of replacement.
Most advanced and recently developed method of replacement is Implant supported prosthesis. In this method we can replace fully (complete denture) edentulous or partially edentulous patient.

Advantages of Implant supported prosthesis
1. It is fixed and long lasts for 20 years and more.
2. It look as natural as possible, so it’s hard for others to tell that you have them.
3. Excellent stability.
4. Prevention of Bone Atrophy

Do you know Dental Implants ?
Dental implants are used to place crowns, or artificial teeth, into the mouth. They’re usually drilled into the jawbone where they serve as the replacement tooth’s root. Dental implant procedures take several months to complete. They look natural and are meant to last for many decades.
Saving is better than Losing
In our life no one wants to loose anything they die hard to save.
But in the Dental clinic first question is why do we need to save the teeth ?
Here the saying is,
Since we have 32 teeths, losing one or two teeths is not a big issue.
But it is considered to be an issue, if we loose one or two teeths which creates problems in future.

Problems We Encounter
1. Dumping of Adjacent tooth. The adjacent tooth overtime bind to dump into the space of missing toothdue to routine function.
2. Bone loss of that side (Bone deterioration).
3. Trouble in speaking and eating.
4. Change in face control
5. Agedness in the patient
6. Low Self-esteem.
So the tooth must be saved.

Ways of saving the tooth is
1. Root canal treatment
2. Periodontal treatment

What is Root canal treatment ?
A Root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. A tooth’s nerve and pulp can become irritated, inflamed, and infected due to deep decay; repeated dental procedures on a tooth; or large fillings or a crack in the teeth.
A root canal is a dental procedure involving the removal of the soft center of the tooth and the pulp, and the inside is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and an abscess may form. The pulp is made up of nerves, connective tissue, and blood vessels that help the tooth grow.
Recent advancement in Root canal treatmet is Microscopic root canal treatmet.

What is Microscopic root canal ?
The entire root canal treatment is done under a dental microscope, which enables the dentist to reach through the tiny canal entry points and branches. The Microscope provides 400 times more visual accuracy than the naked eye and 100 times the visual information. This method helps treat all parts of the canal containing bacteria.

Advantages of Microscopic root canal treatments are
• Precise and minimal cutting of tooth structure is possible.
• Facilitates localization of very fine canals like MB2 & DB2 canals.
• Micro fractures in tooth can be seen.
• Chance of instrument separation is reduced.
• Instrument if separated can be retrieved under microscopic vision.
• Complete cleaning of root canals w.r.t tissue tags and debris can be ensured.
• Complete filling without any leftover spaces can be ensured.
• It is a modern method which has also benefitted other areas of dentistry.
